Background
The altar of the dead at Casa de México is an artistic intervention that showcases the Mexican tradition of honoring the memory of our deceased.
In collaboration with artistic director Eugenio Caballero and Proyectos Ninguém, we created this work of art that aims to showcase one of our country's most distinctive traditions while honoring the work of master artisans with various pieces.
For this project, my role was to create two pieces: a small theater crafted using the amate paper technique and the main altarpiece, a retablo. Both pieces are based on the work of master artisan Javier Martínez Pedro, who specializes in amate paper work.
